For the last few years it seems that the war drums have been beating to take us to war with Iran, supposedly because they are building Nukes, and their country is crazy. Yeah, I'll have to agree that I think that Iran is a little bit nutty, but then again I think that all Islamic Countries are a little bit nutty. I really wish that I could say that I come for a perfectly sane country thats qualified to make good judgements on the nuttiness of others, but I live in the United States of America.
Here the deal on Iran in a nutshell: Iran makes all of its money off oil. When their President acts crazy like threatening to destroy Israel, it serves his interest tremendously, because it pisses the Israelis and the Americans off, and they start talking tough about economic sanctions and maybe bombing Iran. This freaks out the oil market, so commodities futures traders quit short selling oil futures, this decreases the supply of oil futures contracts, while the demand for oil futures contracts increases because the companies that refine oil want to make sure that they have enough oil in the future to turn in to gasoline for us. This increases the price of a bbl of oil, which is how Iran makes all of their money. So as long as Iran acts just crazy enough to make traders think that it likely that Israel or the United States might attack Iran, they make more money off their oil exports.
Being the useful idiots, that our government almost always is, they fall for it every time. Which begs to question, why hasn't the government caught on to this scam yet? I don't really know if it is to be believed that our government is actually as stupid and incompetent as they seem, but it does seem to percolate into everything that the government does, and thats sort of what I want this blog to be about.
Is our government really as stupid as they seem or like Ahmadinejad, are they crazy like a fox, and serving corrupt interests that benefit from their stupidity? I am more of the opinion that the latter is most likely the case.
